To allow communication with the cash drawer, the drawer must be set in the printer's configuration in MacOS.
Connect devices
- Make sure that the cash drawer is physically plugged in the printer
- Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer and listed under System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
Access CUPS
On Mac, printing configuration can be accessed with CUPS.- Open a browser page and visiting http://localhost:631/printers/
- If you get a "Web Interface is Disabled" page, follow the next steps, otherwise skip to the next section
- Open the Terminal (from the Launchpad or Spotlight search)
- Type or paste cupsctl WebInterface=yes and press enter
- Refresh or reopen a browser page to http://localhost:631/printers/
You should now see the same list of printer as under System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
Setting up the cash drawer
- In the dropdown menu where "Administration" is preselected, select "Set Default Options" instead. This will open a new page titled "Set Printer Options"
- From the top menu, click on "Cash Drawer Control"
- From the options that appear, set the "1. Cash Drawer" option to "Open Drawer 1"
- Click on "Set Default Options" to save the change.
- You can now exit CUPS.
